The town of Breckenridge is one of the oldest gold mining towns in North America. Gaslights, picket fences and frontier exuberance lend this Rocky Mountain town Victorian grace and elegance. There is a unique energy about Breckenridge - hard to ignore, and even harder to resist. It is soon evident why Breckenridge is the number one destination in the US for both skiers and boarders.
Founded in 1859 as a gold mining camp along the banks of the Blue River, Breckenridge has experienced a rich history of boom and bust.
Today Breckenridge is more than a quaint mining town from the past with exceptional skiing and yet one hour from Denver airport

The Skiing
Situated at 9600ft Breckenridge Ski Resort boasts the largest ski resort in Summit County with 4 interconnected mountains and a total of 2,000 skiable acres. Whether you are taking advantage of the excellent ski school for children and adults alike, or exploring some of the expert terrain on Peaks 7 and 8, there is an abundance of skiing for all levels, making this the ideal resort for families and groups of varying abilities.
Since its purchase by Vail Resorts, Breckenridge is sister ski area to Keystone, Vail and Beaver Creek, with combined lift tickets available for all four.

Snowfall averages an impressive 300 inches per year and state-of-the-art snowmaking at Breckenridge Ski Resort assists mother nature in providing excellent ski conditions from early season through the winter.

Beginners
Breckenridge has plenty of beginner terrain along with an excellent ski school. The bottom of Peak 9 has a big, virtually flat area and some nice and gently nursery slopes. There is then an opportunity to move on to a good choice of green runs. Peak 8 is also suitable with another selection of green runs with a choice of trails back to town.

Intermediates
Peak 9 has the easiest slopes in Breckenridge, it is nearly all gentle. Wide blue runs at the top and green runs at the bottom.
Peak 10 has a few more challenging runs classified blue/black, such as Crystal and Centennial which make for good fast cruising. Peak 7 and 8 both have a choice of blues on trails cut close together in the trees. More adventurous intermediates may also like to try some of the high bowl runs.

Advanced
For the most advanced skiers there are plenty of runs to chose from. 55% of Breckenridge’s runs are classified as ‘most difficult’ (single black diamond) or ‘expert’ (double black diamond) terrain. To reach some of Breckenridge’s steep slopes you will need to take the T bar at the top of Peak 8. From here you can access great steep runs on Peak 7 and 8, and also ski the bowls. Peak 9 has excellent tree runs under E chair and Peak 10 has a network of interlinking black mogul runs by the side of the downhill course, which are consistently steep and bumpy.

Snowboarding
Ideal for the newcomer, Peak 8, for the second year, offers up smaller jumps, rails, fun boxes and even a halfpipe. Accessible by Chair 7, Trygve's Terrain Park and Pipe provides a playground for everyone from aspiring freestylists just learning the ropes to seasoned experts perfecting their technique.

The Freeway Terrain Park also on Peak 8 is one of North America's most acclaimed terrain parks, receiving numerous awards from various magazines and readers polls. This Super Park plays host to world-class athletes, competitions and exhibitions throughout the season. The Breckenridge Freeway Terrain Park is often the first park and pipe in the country to open for the season thanks to great snowmaking and Breckenridge's high altitude. Freeway can also be seen in films and in popular computer games
